What is biNu?

Posted by , April 5th, 2011

biNu is Your Smartphone in the Cloud. The application brings smartphone content to simple feature phones using only an Internet connection. All processing is done on biNu servers so all the phone needs to do is display each page. Data is also highly compressed before delivery to the phone. This means that biNu is super fast, even on slow or busy networks, and uses minimal data bandwidth. The biNu app on the phone is very small, so it doesn’t use much memory storage on the phone. Content in any language can be displayed, no matter what languages are supported by the phone.

How does biNu work?

The biNu application on your phone connects to the Internet using a standard connection like Opera Mini. The app connects to biNu’s powerful servers which do all the processing, leaving your phone to just show the results, fast! Each page requested by the app is created ‘virtually’ on the server, by creating a composite image that matches the screen size of your phone. Once processed, the composite image is compressed and sent to your phone for display. The biNu server and app also make use of smart cacheing, whereby content that has already been processed or sent to your phone before, is not sent again, but re-used. This improves speed and efficiency even more.

How do I use biNu?

biNu is very simple and easy to use. When you first start the app, it will need to connect to the Internet. If the app cannot connect, check that you have mobile network coverage or signal and that the connection is configured correctly. Once the app starts, you can navigate to actions or links using the navigation button on your phone (the up, down, left, right key). Press the phone’s select key to select the current link and navigate to the next page. Some links also show a small green number – select the relevant number on your keypad to navigate to the link. On a touch screen phone, you can also touch the link on the screen to navigate. In all apps you will find more functions in the Menu which is activated by clicking the button below the word Menu in the bottom left corner. You can also navigate backwards to the page you were on before by using the Back key at the bottom right of the screen.
